Youths Threaten to Shut Down Oil Facilities in Delta State

Youths of Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, under the aegis of Ogulagha Clan Youths Association, have threatened to shut down the Forcados Terminal and the Crude Loading Platform and all oil and gas production facilities in their area.


Their grouse is that the state government did not appoint an Ogulagha native into the newly constituted board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.

Similarly, Kokori community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state, has threatened to shut down oil wells in its domain in protest of what the community termed as their exclusion in the appointments into the board of DESOPADEC.

On his part, Captain Beck Hitler, a prominent chief in Ogulagha Kingdom, has criticised Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for neglecting the kingdom in the constitution of the new board of DESOPADEC.
